Saint-Gobain Quartz evolves into Saint-Gobain Advanced Ceramic Composites

We are proud to announce that, starting April 19th 2023, Saint-Gobain Quartz is evolving into a new business named: Saint-Gobain Advanced Ceramic Composites. The goal of this new name is to reflect our ambitions to diversify our solutions and expertise to grow in high-potential markets. Saint-Gobain Advanced Ceramic Composites (ACC) is implementing an ambitious growth strategy focused on Quartz, Ceramic Continuous Filaments and Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMC) activities for Aerospace, Connectivity, and Industrial markets.

Our historical Quartz activity will remain a strong focus in our roadmap. We will particularly continue to invest in the development and production of quartz filaments for radomes, electronics, as well as electrical and thermal insulation.

Our Ceramic Continuous Filaments activity will focus on a portfolio of solutions based on continuous filaments made of Alumina and Mullite and dedicated to extreme temperature applications. These are used, for instance, in composites designed to lighten aircraft structures while improving engine efficiency therefore contributing to reduce the CO2 footprint of aviation.

Our CMC activity will aim at conveying the benefits of high performance filaments, among which silica, alumina and mullite, into tailor-made parts for industrial applications. CMCs are new materials that will bring value to multiple high temperature applications leading to a greener and more efficient Industry.

In addition to the historical plants of Nemours (France) and Louisville, KY (USA), Saint-Gobain Advanced Ceramic Composites is pleased to welcome Courtenay (France) in its industrial network for the upcoming production of Ceramic Continuous Filaments.
