Saint-Gobain Quartz is a business unit of the Saint-Gobain group that supplies a wide range of industries with high quality quartz materials and products, from ingots and blanks which are subsequently machined to make semiconductor equipment parts, to ultimate purity synthetic silica Spectrosil^® used in optics or high energy physics experiments, to Quartzel ^® quartz fibers used in aeronautics.

In addition, Saint-Gobain Quartz also manufactures Micaver ^®, a unique glass/mica composite material used for the manufacturing of electrical insulators for the railway and other electrical industries and a range of Piezoceramics , used in a variety of Medical, Military, Automotive and Aerospace applications

Among our proud achievements are the unique development of chlorine-free synthetic silica for which Saint-Gobain Quartz Ltd. in the  UK was awarded the Queen's Award for Environmental Achievement in 2000, and the quartz coffin of the late Chairman Mao which was made by Saint-Gobain Quartz Jinzhou.

Today, Saint-Gobain Quartz materials are manufactured in four plants ( UK, France, Kentucky-USA and China) and stocked or pre-processed at six additional Saint-Gobain Quartz locations ( Switzerland, Germany, California-USA, Singapore, Korea and our new cutting/machining center in Japan ).
